The Nissan Altima is a compact car launched by Japanese car manufacturer Nissan and is a follower of the Nissan Bluebird line that introduced in 1957. The Nissan Altima was more powerful, luxurious, and stronger than the Nissan Sentra but inferior to the Nissan Maxima. It was available both in Middle East and North America. It some other auto mobile markets, it was traded in the name of Nissan Teana.
First Generation (1993–1997)
First time it was launched in the 1993 model year. At that time, all models of the car was used Altima with a KA24DE I4 DOHC engine that mated to either five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission to provide a power of 150 hp. It was one of the competitors to all 4-cylinder versioned cars. Coming to its suspension, the system comprised of struts by stabilizer bars at two edges and considering for offering satisfying and sporty handling. The Altima was a compact vehicle and it provided seating facility comfortably to four members and it was very congested for five passengers. For the first generation, four trim levels were produced. They were
• The luxury GLE,
• The sporty SE,
• The mid-line GXE, and
• The stripped XE
Second Generation (1998–2001)
The second generation of this car was produced only in American auto market in 1998. it was again styled by California design center of Nissan. The newer interior of this car contained
• A revised cup holders and glove box,
• depowered airbags, and
• a folding back seat.
Most of the customers felt that, it had better spacious cabin with a total volume of 108 cubic feet. On the other hand, some customers expressed discomforts such as low quality interior components, plainer styling, and lightly sprung gas pedal. Trim levels equipped for this generation were
• the luxury-trimmed GLE,
• sporty SE, volume-selling GXE, and
• Stripped XE.
The trim Sporty SE could be differed by its white-faced gauges, alloy wheels, rear spoiler, fog lights, and body-color grille. It had standard leather seats too.
The key modifications were happened in 2000. For this year, it was included with more muscular engine to deliver 155 hp (116 kW) along with four way sparks. With the new engine, the performance was upgraded to attain 100 kilometer/hour acceleration in 8.4 seconds.
Third Generation (2002–2006)
The third generation Altima Nissan was debuted in the year 2002; it was developed on the designed on the FF-L platform of Nissan. For this model, the interior space was enhanced to 118.8 cubic feet.
For the 2003 model, it received a 3.5-liter engine to upgrade power from 240 hp to 245 hp and two tone dash color. The 2005 model gained
• an elective DVD-based navigation system,
• a redesigned interior,
• all-red taillights, and
• A new front grille.
It was equipped with a more powerful V6 engine to give 250 hp that coupled to a 5-speed optional automatic transmission.
Fourth Generation (2007–Present)
It was announced in 2006 at the New York Auto Show. It was the first car to utilize the comparatively smaller Nissan D platform, with advanced rear and upgraded front suspension.
Presently, it is included with a VQ35DE 3.5 L V6 engine for the production of 270 hp and an optional VQ35DE 3.5 L V6 engine to make 177 hp (132 kW). It is mated to a traditional 6-speed manual transmission.
Nissan Altima 2010
For 2010, Nissan Altima is available with a new hood, sexier grille, front fascia, and new wheels along with varity of paint colors. It is provided with improved materials and fabrics along with well advanced tech.
2011 Nissan Altima
Except the optional features, Nissan Altima is unchanged for 2011. It is available in coupe and sedan body styles.Every Altima is featured with standard equipments including anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control system, side curtain airbags and front side airbags.
2012 Nissan Altima
2012 Nissan Altima is a supercharged hybrid version powered by a lithium-ion battery. The engine is mated to continously variable system and All Wheel Drive is a standard option.
